Review:

This drama starts the series with a very long bed screen. I guess it’s a good way to get audiences attention since lately I have seen many Taiwan series seem to have a bed screen. This is the second time that I have seen Ethan Ruan’s acting. The first time is from Summer X Sumer, starting Joe Cheng from It Started with a Kiss. He’s pretty cute. I have seen Bianca Bai in It Started with a Kiss before, her role is basically the same way. Not really impress, but it’s just ok.

So far the series has been what I expect idol drama to be, unrealistic but funny. I got to laugh so hard, especially with the first espisode. Must watch!!!

Sweet Relationship (Mei Wei Guan Xi)

It Started with a Kiss – Episode 3

He then tells her that the rumor is already started. He leads her to the computers’ room. Everyone is looking at the picture of them sleeping next to each other. It Started with a Kiss - OST (E Zuo Ju)

Here is the ending theme song from It Started with a Kiss, E Zuo Ju (Practical Joke) by Wang Lan Yin.

The video is an actual MV so the screen in the MV is different from the drama. However, the MV is staring by Joe Cheng and Ariel Lin, and the story seems to be very similar to the drama.

Practical Joke - Wang Lan Yin

I can't find a good reason
to stop this affection I have
This feeling is too complicated,
I'm sorry, I can't explain it

I believe the meaning of this love
is that miracles have a few possibilities of happening
Maybe the pure and gentle wind will blow in good news

Everything requires fresh expreience, and contains risks
Please tell me how to make it to the end
Nobody unserstands, unlike me and the stranger I'm in love with

I think I will begin to miss you
though I just saw you a moment ago
I suspect that this unusual meeting is only a practical joke

I think I will slowly continue to like you
because I have the courage to love
I've sunk myself into the practical joke you've played
The practical joke you've played

I can't find a good reason
to stop this affection I have
This feeling is too complicated,
I'm sorry, I can't explain it

I believe the meaning if this love
is that miracles have a few possibilities of happening
Maybe the pure and gentle wind will blow in good news

I've dicovered that your secret weapon are your dazzling eyes
Please let me continue to look at them
Nobody understands, unlike me and the stranger I'm in love with

I think I will begin to miss you
though I just saw you a moment ago
I suspect that this unusual meeting is only a practical joke

I think I will slowly continue to like you
because I have the courage to love
I've sunk myself into the practical joke you've played
The practical joke you've played

Review:

I like this series so far mostly because it kind of give myself a little break from typical Taiwan idol drama which will be mostly so comic. Not that I don't like them, I actually do because watching them makes me feel like reading manga, but a little realistic is also nice. Vic Zhou again plays the role of a guy who doesn't know how to express himself. So kind of acting cold, but has a solf heart specialy when he with the leading girl Patty Hou.

This series is the first time I have ever watch Patty Hou and Alan Kuo. Not much to say, they're cute. Megan Lai once again in the supporting role as a girl who wants to cling around the leading male character. She pretty phycho in this series, I kind of feel sorry for her.

The story itself is pretty warm heart. A lot of cooking. The story didn't go too fast and didn't really draging around so much. At lead not so far. I don't think there will be any tear in this series, and that is kind of nice. I will have to wait and see how the ending will be, but it seems to me that it will be happy ending. This is one good thing about Taiwan drama, it's not too dramatic as Korean drama. Not too often that someone will end up die.

Daddy-Long-Legs (Kidari ajeossi)

I just finished watching Daddy-Long-Legs (Kidari ajeossi), a 2005 Korean romance film. All I can see is “wow”?

Based on Wikipedia, this film is inpired by the novel inspired by the novel Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster.

Synopsis:

After losing her parents, Young-mi had received the assistance from a kind stranger who she had never met. She had tried to find him many times, but it seems that he wanted to remain anonymous. Therefore, she decided to show her gratitude toward him by giving her best in everything she did. In the mean time, she has been writing him many unsent letters and she nicknamed him, “Daddy Long Legs.

After graduation, she landed her dream job as a program writer in a nationally radio station. The company also has arranged her to stay rent-free in a house of someone she had been told that the previous owner is a girl) who took a sick leave. Soon after moved in she had read e-mail in the computer at the house. The e-mail was from also the previous owner herself. The e-mail unfolded a story of unrequited love that the owner has toward someone who she has been secretly in love with for 10 years. The previous owner had followed the guy from college till the radio station, but she hadn’t had courage to confess her love to him. Twisting fate, she was diagnosed with a terminal disease, which she would gradually loss her memory and would die eventually. She didn’t want to loss her memories of him, so she decided to write this e-mail and set a send date a year later in order to remind her of who he was.

After reading her story, Young-mi felt sorry for the person who wrote this e-mail, so she decided to air the contents of the e-mail on her radio program in order to find the person the owner of the house felt in love with. At the same time Young-mi came to meet Kim Jun Ho, who worked as a librarian in the radio station. They were quickly falling for each other. One day, Young-mi realized that Jun Ho might have been the guy who the house owner felt in love with. Young-mi was all confusing and trying to avoid Jun Ho.

Another unexpected incident, Young-mi found out that there was someone who secretly helping her with her job at the radio station as well as the housing. She suddenly knew that it was her “Daddy Long Legs”. She found out that the director was the one who helping her. She then rushed to see him, but he told her that she was not her “Daddy Long Legs”. He only did this on the behalf of his brother.

This is another twisting fate. The true is her “Daddy Long Legs” is Jun Ho who secretly in love with her for ten years, but she had never noticed him. Jun Ho is turned out to be a previous owner of her house and he was the one who wrote the e-mail.

Cast:

· Yeon Jung Hoon as Kim Joon-ho

· Ha Ji Won as Cha Young-mi

· Park Eun Hye (girl in flashbacks)

· Hyun Bin (guy in flashbacks)

Review:

Watching this film is very romantic and I feel like I’m reading a good book. The story flows smoothly, but also gives you quite a twist at the end. I think it’s quite typical Korean romance film, you need to cry some. I think this is one of the must watch films if you like romantic film.

Funny thing is that I don’t really have anything to say for each leading characters individually, but when look at them as a whole, I think they just seem to fit in with one another so well. This film is also the second time that I watch Park Eun Hye other then Silence. I really like seeing her in this story. She plays the role of one side love so well.

MY Girl OST - Never Say Goodbye

Silence vs. Autumn Tale

I already posted a review for Silence, a Taiwan drama in my previous post. I did mention that I think Silence and Autumn Tale (Korean drama) have a lot of things in comment, so let’s talk about it.

1. Both of them start off in similar way from the leading roles were a kid. In Autumn Tale, Yoon Joon-suh (Song Seung Heon) and Yoon Eun-suh (Song Hye Gyo) grew up as siblings but Eun-suh was in fact from a different family as there was a mixed up at the hospital where she was born. In Silence, Zhou Shen Shen (Park Eun Hye) meets Qi Wei Yi (Vic Zhou) while they were in the hospital, and they become a good friend and fall in love.

2. Under some circumstances, the leading roles in both series have to be separated since they were a kid. In Autumn Tale, after switching back between Eun-suh and the real daughter, Jooh-suh’s family moved to the United States. In Silence, Wei Yi was moving away as well (I think he went to school oversea), and he didn’t get to say goodbye to Shen Shen.

3. Both male leading roles: Joon-suh and Wei Yi come back from aboard and try to find their missing memory. Then they kept passing each other or interact with each other without knowing that the other person is someone they’re looking for (this is so classic).

4. In both series, the main male and female already have someone they purpose to be with. In Autumn Tale, Joon-suh already has a fiancé, Shin Yu Mi (Han Na Na) and Eun-suh has Han Tae Suhk (Won Bin) who madly in love with her. In Silence, Wei Yi is engaged to Mi Xiao Guang (Megan Lai) and Shen Shen has Zuo Jun (Andy Hui), who is also madly in love with her.
5. The supporting roles; Yu Mi, Tae Suhk, Xiao Guang and Zuo Jun in both series do all the crazy selfish things they can to keep the main characters with them. For example, Yu Mi tried to kill herself to keep Joon-suh by herself. In Silence, with knowing that Wei Yi’s dying, Xiao Guang stills try to do everything to be the one by his side.

6. The leading role from both series having a cancer (another classic sickness) and dying. They try to hide it from another main leading role, and right at the very end another leading role with find out. Then main characters get to spend a very little time together at the end.

7. Lastly, that person dies.

I guess this type of story line is just classic. I had a good cry for both of series. I like Autumn Tale a little more.

Silence - Vic Zhou and Park Eun Hye

Silence, a bitter-sweet and romantic, Taiwan drama, has brought together actors and actresses from different nationalities including Vic Zhou (Taiwan), Park Eun-hye (South Korea), and Andy Hui (Hong Kong).

Cast:

· Vic Zhou as Qi Wei Yi

· Park Eun Hye as Zhao Shen Shen

· Andy Hui as Zuo Jun

· Megan Lai as Mi Xiao Guang

Synopsis:

Zhou Shen Shen loses her voice after a bus accident and gets taken to the hospital by her friend Zuo Jun(who blames himself for making her mute) there she meets Qi Wei Yi a boy who leg got broken by jealous peers. He finds a letter she had put in a bomb shelter wall. They leave each other letters and promise to come back in the Christmas of 2006. They become good friends and fall in love but Wei Yi is unaware that Shen Shen is mute. When he has to leave before her, He gives her his phone number and tells her to call him. Years pass and in the year of 2006 they met again but is unaware of who each other is until Wei Yi finds out he has liver cancer and is dying So he decides to go back to the hospital he went to as a child and he finds out that Shen Shen is his childhood love but not wanting to hurt her when he dies he hides his identity and eventually pushes her away.

Source: DramaWiki

I have seen Vic Zhou’s acting a little bit in Meteor Garden, and I think that he has been improved so much in Silence. He brings out the loneliness of Qi Wei Yi so well. Half way through the series, I just could help it, but cries for him so many times. Park Eun Hye as a mute girl is pretty good. She uses the sign language naturally. Without saying a word, her body languages just work so well, I kind of feel for her when she cries and when she is happy. Andy hui and Megan Lai do a good job with their roles. Sometime, you just want to punch them because their jealousies are so annoying, and that what they purpose to be. However, it seems to me that I always see Megan Lai in this kind of character, so nothing new to me.

The story itself is fantastic. The story reminds me a little bit of Korean series, Autumn Tale because the story starts off when the leading roles were a kid, but it not as dramatic as Autumn Tale. Even if the ending is kind of sad, but I don’t think it’s tragic. Vic Zhou’s role is a sick person, so if the story has a happy ending, I think it will be way too unrealistic. After this kind of drama is a kind that give you a good cry. To me it is like reading the “Tuesday with Morrie” all over again. It doesn’t mean that the stories are the same, but they give me the same feeling, sad and touching at the same time.

Silence OST - Familiar Gentlenes
It Started with a Kiss

It Started with a Kiss - Episode 2

Left off from the first episode where Xiang Qin’s family is already moved in with Zhi Shu' s family. Episode 2 starts with weird chubby looking boy walks toward Xiang Qin (in very intimidating way). He's Jiang Yu Shu, Zhi Shu' younger brother. Xiang Qin introduces herself to Yu Shu. Yu Shu then asks her some of his school problem, and of course Xiang Qin gives him a wrong answer (way too wrong). Then she says something even more wrong (everyone speechless). Yu Shu shouts out that she is an idiot and he doesn't want to be near her because he doesn't want to be stupid like her.

After this, Zhao Zi leads Xiang Qin to her room, where she happily decorates for Xiang Qin (since she doesn’t have a girl and she seems to want to have a girl so much). Zhao Zi tells Zhi Shu to help Xiang Qin unpack and leaves the two of them. Zhi Shu tells Xiang Qin not to interfere with his life. Now, Xiang Qin feels really unwelcome.

Next morning, Zhi Shu's mom makes Zhi Shu and Xiang Qing go school the same to time. On the way to school, Zhi Shu tells Xiang Qin to remember four rules: one, not to hit or bump into him because his body is not made by cement, therefore, she needs to keep a distance from him; two, he will show her of how to get to school only one time, so he doesn’t care of what she has to do to be remember the direction between school and his house; three, she can’t tell anyone that they’re living in the same house; and four, she will never talk to him at school.

On the bus, Xiang Qin becomes a victim of some old pervert who keeps touching her legs; she tries to get Zhi Shu to help her. In stead, he chooses to ignore her. After get off the bus, Xiang Qin is all upset; she angrily asks Zhi Shu why he wasn’t helping him when he saw she was encounter the pervert on the bus. Zhi Shu tells her that there were so many people in the bus; she also told him before that she doesn’t need his help; and she probably mistaken about the person who might just accidentally touch her.

The next day, Xiang Qin meets some perverts in the bus again. She goes to her class with a really bad mood. Her friends ask what is going on with her, she tells her friends that since she’s moving to a new place, she keeps run into some perverts on the bus. Back to F classroom, teacher asks students to prepare for the exam. Then he tells everyone that he is the problem of why the class’s performance is not good, the whole F class score combine can’t even beat Jiang Zhi Shu’s scores. The teacher says that he’s now understood that being enthusiasm and kind is not enough to bring a success. Xiang Qin is ticked by this. She tells everyone that she will beat Jiang Zhi Shu in this coming exam. Everyone starts to laugh. Ah Jin tells her that it’s impossible because Zhi Shu is not only a school number one, but he’s possibly even Taiwan’s number. Xiang Qin changes her mind and says that she will become F class history who can get in the top 100 of school instead.

The rumor about Xiang Qin has leaked out. On lunch break, there is news on school broadcast talks about F class student who got rejected by Jiang Zhi Shu and was a victim of level two earthquake declares that she will make school top 100. So now the whole school knows about her declaration. After hearing the broadcast, Xiang Qin is speechless and starts to realize that she just made a big mistake.

Back at home, Xiang Qin is trying to study and of course she is not good at study at all. In the middle of the night, Zhao Zi brings Xiang Qin midnight snack and tells Xiang Qin how happy she is to be able to do this because she hasn’t done it for Zhi Shu because he doesn’t need to study late. Then she shows Xiang Qin old photos of Zhi Shu dressing up like a girl and tells her story of Zhi Shu’s childhood. Because Zhao Zi wanted to have a daughter so bad, so she raised Zhi Shu as he was a girl, until one Zhi Shu’s friends found out that he was a boy, not a girl, and that caused Zhi Shu to get humiliated from his classmates. Zhao Zi tells Xiang Qin because of that incident Zhi Shu had changed his personality and always acting cold. Zhao Zi also tells Xiang Qin that this story is a secret.

In the morning, at the dining table Xiang Qin can’t stop thinking about Zhi Shu in the dress, so she keeps giggling. Yu Shu tells Zhi Shu to look at Xiang Qin. Zhi Shu tells his brother that she probably has gone crazy. Yu Shu then starts laughing.

In the F classroom, while Xiang Qin and her friends are talking, Zhi Shu comes in and asks Xiang Qin to bring her school bag and come outside with him. It’s because his mom has switches their lunchbox. Zhi Shut tells Xiang Qin that since she came to his house there seems to be a problem. Xiang Qin tells him that he’s right and it could be worst because one day they might accidentally switching the school uniform instead of just their lunch. Zhi Shu asks why would she even say that. Xiang Qin tells him, it because he used to love wearing dresses, as well as shows him his pictures of him wearing dress. Zhi Shu asks how she got the picture and tries to get it back from her by chasing around her. She finally gives it to him, but also tells him that she has a lot more of his photos, and the only way she will give the negative back to him is that he needs to tutor her and make her on the top 100. Zhi Shu leans closer to Xiang Qin and tells her that he will do it, but she needs to understand that for F class student like her this will be impossible. Xiang Qin then talks back that he is a genius, how come he doesn’t confident in his ability. Zhi Shu yells back at her and tells her that the problem is not him, but he has no confident in her and tells her that they will have to start tutoring for tonight.

While Xiang Qin and Zhi Shu are talking, Ya Non, Chun Mei, Ah Jin, and couple more friends are trying to sneaking on them. Ah Jin is all upset; he asks Xiang Qin what they are talking about. Xiang Qin then runs away.

It Started with a Kiss - OST

As I mentioned before, It Started with a Kiss has so many cute songs, and this is one of them. This song called " Say U Love Me," an opening theme song for the series by Jason(he also in the series as well, very funny guy) and Lala.

Here is the translation:

Say U Love me

Jason:
Say that you love me Say that you care ~
Say that you love me Say that you care ~

Lara:
Meeting the right person is part of fate
I cannot deny that
girls should have some self-control
you have to aim for the person you want
no longer want to wait
give you a kiss to be your person

Jason:
I know a girl who is naive, lively and cute
waiting for a person who can give her 3000 loves
dont need to be rich, dont need to be handsome
she has a weird attitude, sometimes containing sometimes you need to endure

why does she actually love him
what is she thinking
whether she forgot handsome boys cant be loved
what is it that made her confuse
dont know what to do
i want to say how is this possible

not shy at all of a game of girl chasing boy

From day to night fooling at his side
Only to make him look for awhile
She is here yet he is there
She wish he would touch her on her palm

It Started with a Kiss – Episode 3

Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi)

Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi) is Japanese live action adapted from a Japanese manga (with the same name). Leading roles played by Aibu Saki as Izawa Riiko, Hayami Mokomichi as Tenjo Night, and Mizushima Hiro as Asamoto Soshi. This seems to have quite a little changes when compare with the manga (the way mostly Japanese live action usually is), but from what I have watched so far (7 episodes) this series proves to be an interesting series to watch.

Synopsis:

Robot maker, Kronos Heaven, finally develops "Night Tenjo", the perfect male humanoid programmed to be devoted and completely loyal to his lover. The company chooses temp worker Izawa Riko to take part in a 5-day free trial. At first, Riko only sees Night as a household appliance. But when she finds out how deep Night's devotion to herself is, Riko finds herself falling in love with him. Joining the love triangle is Asamoto Soshi, a distinguished young executive at her company who has feelings for her. --Fuji TV

So far, this series gives me a good laugh and the plus side is that the two male leading actors are such an eye candy. The story goes very fast. I can’t wait for more!

This is by far my favorit Taiwan live action series. I love how there make it so trueful to the manga (one of my favorite mangas as well). The series is quite long, but it wasn't bored you at all. Ariel portrayed Yuan Xiang Qin's role quite well. From pretty smart girl in real life, she made it so unbeleavable that the role in the movie is so dump, crumsy, and crazy. Joe fitted the role of Jiang Zhi Shu so perfectly. Jiro also did a well done job with Ah Jin' role, and so do the rest of the casts.

Throughout the story you will laugh a lot, you will get annoyed by both main characters as their role purpose to make you feel that way, and you will see the developement of all the characters which I couldn't help but felt in love with them. One more plus side about this series is it's songs. They're so cute!
